Mission Statement: A special “intention” may be added to each mass celebration. This is in accordance with the practice of the Church to offer prayers for the deceased or for a special occasion of a living persons life such as anniversary of marriage or ordination. The following guidelines will be adhered to so that we may offer requested masses in a fair way to those who seek this intention.
Mass Intention Request Guidelines
- In accordance with Canon Law, all mass intentions must be celebrated within one year of receipt of the mass request. A date will be announced each fall when the “Mass book” will be opened. Future dates cannot be scheduled until the book is opened for the coming year.
- The mass stipend is $10.00 per mass.
- In accordance with Canon Law, each Sunday one of the masses must be “Pro Populo” or for the people of the parish. No other intentions may be scheduled with that mass.
- Holy Thursday, Good Friday, the Easter Vigil and All Souls Day have specific intentions set by the Church. No other intentions may be scheduled on these days.
- Every registered Adult Parishioner is welcome to request Mass intentions for up to three Masses each year. Each parishioner is limited to one Sunday Mass intention and two weekday mass intentions within the year. All mass intentions are available on a first come first serve basis, this includes immediate Mass requests following funerals.
- A person is considered a registered parishioner if they have completed a current registration form and are in the realm system.
- One Mass may be requested by immediate family following a funeral and does not count toward the limit of three per year.
- Additional mass requests from a funeral will be scheduled as available.
- Non-Parishioners are welcome to request mass intentions and will be scheduled as available or sent out if no times are available.
- Any requested masses that are not able to be offered in the parish within the one-year time frame will be sent out to fulfill the one-year time requirement as stated in Canon Law. Every effort will be made to honor and satisfy the request, but we must adhere to Canon Law.
