Confirmation"But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." - John 14:26
Confirmation is the sacrament by which Catholics receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Through Confirmation, the Holy Spirit gives them the increased ability to practice their Catholic faith in every aspect of their lives and to witness Christ in every situation. |
For those Baptized and under 18 years old:
The regular age for confirmation in the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown is 11th grade. Preparation for the sacrament is a 3-year process beginning in 9th grade. Please contact our DRE at the parish office to register. For those older than 7 years old and not yet Baptized:
Catholic teaching specifies that those older than 7 years old who wish to be baptized take part in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. That person would then receive the sacraments of Baptism Confirmation, and Eucharist, at the Easter Vigil. Our RCIA program is run by Deacon Gary & Patti Gill. Please contact the parish office if you are interested. For those Baptized and over 18 years old: Adult candidates for Confirmation participate in the class with our RCIA Candidates, and have the option to receive confirmation by the Bishop along with our teens, or by themselves at a weekend mass at the parish. Please contact the parish office if you are interested. |
