The Church asks all Priests and Religious to pray the Liturgy of the Hours, but also encourages laypeople to also participate. The Liturgy of the hours are meant to be prayed in common where possible. When I was in Seminary, we would often gather as diocesan brothers in the evening to pray night prayer (Compline). I always remember it as a nice time of community. I also remember once a week, a small group of us would pray night prayer with some of the college students.
For the last few years, I've invited a group to pray using video-conferencing technology and it was very well received. This year, Tony DeGol asked me if I'd be willing to talk about it and invite others. So I thought it would be good to allow a public signup space so that those interested could get information about it along with the links necessary to join. We'll begin on Ash Wednesday Feb 17th and run through Wednesday of Holy Week, March 31st. We'll meet each night at 9PM. The prayer takes roughly 15-20 minutes. I'll supply more information on this page as we get closer. I'm still figuring out the details of how it will work and assessing some different platforms. -Fr Matt |
