Find Sacramental Records / Genealogy Research
Many individuals seek copies of their or a loved one’s Baptismal record, Marriage certificate, or other sacramental records. This is often for genealogical research or other purposes. All sacramental records are located at the parish at which the sacrament was celebrated. Individuals seeking those records generally contact the specific parish, however several churches in Barnesboro & Spangler, PA merged in 2000 and became "Prince of Peace" and those towns also combined and became "Northern Cambria".
Prince of Peace Church has the actual sacramental record books for ALL of the churches that merged in the year 2000 below:
* We also maintain records for the Cemeteries that were part of the churches listed above with asterisks (*).
Please note that at this time, we do NOT have anyone available to do Genealogy Researches, so requests may not be processed in a timely manner. They are very time-consuming and a lot of the record books go back to the late 1800's / early 1900's, so they are very fragile. Unfortunately, some are written in another language (Italian, Polish, Slovak, etc.) and/or the handwriting is illegible. First & Last names are also frequently listed differently in those cases (i.e., "Antonio" vs "Anthony", etc.).
A lot of information is required from the requestor to assist us in the research. We would need the following information to even get started on the research:
* Ancestor's Full Name
* Date of Birth
* Date of Death
* Which Church they attended (from the list above)
* Name & Location of the Cemetery they were buried in
NEED TO FINISH THIS LIST - SEE POSSIBLE FORM SUE STARTED TO CREATE (PROBABLY IN THE CEMETERY FOLDER IN THE SHARED DRIVE ON HER COMPUTER)
Please note that this information must be provided separately for each person you are researching. Do not combine spouses, parents, children, grandchildren, etc., unless they are buried together.
Also note that infant deaths are typically in unmarked graves and typically did not have a birth certificate, nor baptism to research, meaning they would not be recorded in our Sacramental books or Cemetery records, so they may not be found.
